Aw yeah, the final version is up!! So glad to see it finally done.
I'm still pretty new at this whole critique option here on dA, so apologies if this isn't my best critique...but here I go.
I like how you included your other ideas for the pose, and I especially like how you incorporated aspects from all there into the final product. That, and the silhouette designs just look amazing.
Your technique is as incredible as always. I'm always floored by your painting techniques, and you really pulled out the stop on this one. I'm a bit confused about the lighting on her legs, though. Are her boots two different colors of material, or is that just the lighting affecting the left boot? Also, this is just me, but while the rest of the piece has a nice, almost impressionistic feel to it, the sudden clarity and extra detail to the face threw me off just a tiny bit. But I can understand why you wanted that feature to be clearer and more prominent, so please disregard that.
Her dreadlocks came out amazingly as well, as did her clothing. Love the extra detail to the beads in her dreads.
For future character design spreads, I think you should include the name of the character, perhaps? I also think that maybe a more dynamic pose would give your piece that extra "oomph! I'm a bad ass!" feel to it. This pose is fine, but it'd be nice to see either a pose that really conveys her character, or an action pose that shows us how she uses her weapon.
Overall, it's a pretty solid piece!! I'm glad you're feeling better enough to get this done - and it turned out very well. Can't wait to see more of this character and others in her world!
